stuck at login (Start playing from: hearth/log out)

Hello... got subj just now, first attempt to play this morning, i used pacho's (win-i586.09.10.26) client which got me to seeing the area and myself but it hung when opening inventory shortly after logging in. When i tried login with official client - it gets stuck at login stage after selecting which char to play with, clicking on hearth or "where logged out" has no result aside of registering button state trigger, closing the character window and re-opening i is still possible.

I would really like to get this character's inventory along with boat it's in, since it got 2 days worth of local maps which would be too painful to loose

just to better describe the situation and bump the thread:


This is as far as i can get with "Phazorx", clicking "Where you logged out" button does nothing
"Autkerhy" on the other hand works fine (i just made the alt yesterday to confirm it is the character problem rather than something else)

Just start at hearth fire..if you cant login where you logged out then something was put on the tile where you logged out so you would be stuck if you login there. Also you had rustrootextract in your inventory when using pachos client?

There does, indeed, seem to be a bug with the logging-out-in-boat stuff. More specifically, it seems not to work "again" when logging back into a boat and the logging back out without having left and re-entered the boat. I'll try and fix the bug, but unfortunately, there isn't any good way for me to allow you to re-enter the boat again without walking back to it (since I can no longer find out which boat you were in).

Well after using hearth spawn, forgetting all the cargo in the boat and heading to re-explore and re-make all the maps again I got same issue (can not pick "where i logged out")
This time i was unloading things from boat, after a fight with a bar, standing on solid ground with chest in my hands. Should i just give up exploring/looking for a place to settle now or what?

In that case, the reason is most likely that logging out dropped the chest where you were standing, making it impossible to log in again there because of the chest obstructing the location. There are a couple of similar reasons why logging in where you logged out shouldn't always be trusted to work. Logging into a boat should work better now since I fixed that bug, but it still won't work if e.g. someone has lifted the boat onto land while you were logged out or otherwise occupied it. The game isn't very well suited for a perfectly nomadic life right now. We might consider adding some "travel hearth" or something at some point, but right now there is no such thing.

Sure there is, It's called a dream catcher... it's lift able and can be put in carts and boats
