Splash: sysCreateListenerSocket failed error.

Postby Mono124 » Mon Jan 04, 2010 8:18 pm

Every time I try to start the game I get a Splash: sysCreateListenerSocket failed error. I know it isn't because of my web browser, because I used Chrome, IE, and Mozilla and I get the same errors. It used to be I just spam the log in button and it would eventually work, but no I keep getting the error 100%. Anyone know how to fix this?

Haha, yes, it would surprise me indeed if it were a problem with the web browser (seeing how Haven has nothing with the browser to do).

It does seem like an internal problem with Java, though. You may want to try installing the latest JRE from Sun.

The reason why I said what web browsers I tried to use is because they all try to launch the game in a different way.... Anyway, I downloaded it and I am still getting the error.

Ah; looking around on the Interwebs a bit more seems to reveal that it's a problem related to the Windows firewall. Since I don't use Windows myself, I cannot account for it in detail, but it seems you need to allow Haven (which probably presents itself as "javaws.exe" or "javaw.exe") explicit access to the Internet.

Can someone who uses windows tell me where I can find javaws.exe or javas.exe because I have searched my system and cannot find it. I can't allow Haven access to the internet if I cannot find the .exe it uses.

EDIT: I think I might have fixed it. I had to open the Java Control Panel and check my java settings for the file.

why didn't you just do a find files and type in "javaws.exe". or easier, look in your program files\jre6\bin folder

Woohoo, it's finally fixed. I somehow lost half of my java folder which was causing huge errors, and the uninstall was also lost. I had to delete the folder, clean my registry, system recover, use a windows uninstaller tool to get rid of any other java files, and reinstall. Oh, and my internet died in the middle of it so thats why I didn't post sooner.
