I had a similar problem. When I fished with a lure I didn't have the interuptions. But when I fished with a bloated leech I would get the lp for fishing, catch nothing, and stop fishing until I threw the line back in again. I gather that the "always catch something with bait" rule has been nerfed?

It happens when your character figures out that there are no fish where you are, now that localized fishing has been introduced.
