Don't load your dough before you're ready to light the oven. Known bug.

So, does fuel goes first into oven?

See it as a feature, the bread rises a bit and therefore requires less branches to bake.

I had the opposite problem just now, put 3 branches of fuel in first, then the dough and lit it right away, result, 3 batches of ash.

I recently baked bread. When fuel is burned at 70% (2 branches of 3), some of the bread is already baked. Of the 20 loaves only 3 remained raw. Perhaps if I waited until all the fuel is not burned completely, then I would get the ashes, instead of bread. And yes, I put the fuel first.

Is the bread standing in the oven for any length of time at all? That's where the known bug comes in.

If for example you put the fuel in, put the first two dough loaves in, go off and do something else and then come back and light the oven the bread will burn.

If you are ever in any doubt that the dough may have stood for a minute or two, remove the dough from the oven, make sure you are using the correct amount of fuel, put the dough back into the oven and light it immediately.

Alternatively if you leave the bread in the oven and only use one branch for fuel it should cook completely and not burn.

I take it there is no possible confusion about the type of fuel? You are using branches not blocks?

If your bread is still burning, then uh-oh, yes, something is going very wrong here.

here's the deal with ovens, kilns, smelters, and anything else you put things in and fuel:

the server has "ticks", that it uses to measure passage of time, it's server-wide so it doesn't have to calculate it for individual objects. each tick is approximately 6 minutes.

when you put something, e.g. dough, in an oven, the ticks are counted as if it was burning already, even though it's not. a unit of fuel burns for one tick. so for bread, you need to put it in, wait at least 2 ticks, add 1 tick of fuel (a branch) and light it. you can leave it more ticks, as long as you only use 1 branch. charcoal, blocks, boards are all 2 or more ticks of fuel.
