Did anyone noticed that also? Once bear start to flee it'll never attack again. It runs away then returns but does not attack. So you can kill it barehand.

It's actually a well known bug but not sure if anyone reported it here yet. I'm sure Jorb may be aware of it. I have yet to confirm this on boars though.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.
