unable to forge sword

I tried to create a sword. I had the required 4 pieces of iron and a smithies hammer, and I had activated an anvil.
However a message came up saying I needed an anvil to craft a sword
Either the anvil I'm attempting to use is bugged, or I don't have a skill and the message is wrong.

In further testing, I had the wanderer try to make it and he couldn't, and then I tried making a miners helm and couldn't do that either.

I have previously used the anvil to create plate mail armor, so I know how to do it and it did work previously. I do have the swordsman skill

There's a bug with the "tool" objects like anvils, where they stop working if someone logs out while using them. I fixed that bug a few days ago, but then I accidently reintroduced it through another mechanism. I've fixed it in code again, but it won't start working until I install the new version and restart the server.

I logged in today and was able to forge my sword, hip hip hooray!
