The Son of the Dead Chicken

Postby Jeff » Sun May 01, 2011 6:50 pm

Waiting for a calf to be born and milk to be spilled, i put my eggs in a cupboard.
This is the story of one of those eggs.
This egg was taken from a chicken coop and put into this cupboard. And then, the unbelievable happened.

A chick was born by the egg placed just under the (already) dead chicken.
I call this a miracle and i propose my cupboard to be made saint.

I'm trying to reproduce that, now. Putting an egg just popped from the coop under a dead chicken didn't seem to have any effect (the timer disappeared). I'll wait for a day, though. I could try putting an egg that is at an higher stage of completition as well. Since it is happened in a random way, i've yet to discover how can exactly happen this miracle.

Maybe the egg was about to hatch when you pulled it out and hatched before the timer was canceled.

I thought this happens to everyone all the time.

Eggs hatch because they're warm, not because a hen is on them. Hens are the only way to keep eggs warm, though. Thing is, they take a while to cool off, so if there's only a little time left till hatching (I think <10%, but don't quote me on that) they'll still hatch wherever you put them. Hell, I've had chicks hatch in my inventory while boiling eggs (I guess the ones that did boil were balut).

They shouldn't, though. The timer doesn't go on when you take them out the coop, after all, and taking out the eggs from a coop is exactly for that purpose. I didn't read anything this bug in the wiki, so i thought it was better to report.

The timer *does* go on.
