Scents in containers (in containers) no longer decay?

Postby DatOneGuy » Fri May 27, 2011 8:12 pm

I set some scents at 19 in a Large Chest, then placed them in a boat. the next day I went to rack the same theft, picked it up at 4, when I went to grab the boat, the ones inside were still at 19.

Not sure if already reported, but useful for when gathering lots of scents and tracking last minute.

It's always been like that. At least while I played.

Imagine you track a thief few SGs away who stole from you few hours ago. You've used almost all scents during tracking but you're near the target having only one left though. Then bam... FUUUU~

Never had this happen in W3, when left in chests (that are NOT in other containers [boats, wagons]).

Only happens with containers(chests) in containers(boats/wagons), and probably shouldn't. >:V

If left in a simple chest they decay over time to the same amount as you would pick from the floor.

Grab fresh theft (19)-> Put in cupboard->wait a day (4)
wait a day->grab theft (4)
Grab fresh theft (19)->Put in chest, put chest in boat->wait a day->(19)

'Tis broken, should be fixed.

they don't decay like that. they just disappear from containers when the timer runs out. afaik they have never lost uses after being picked except by being used.

Strange, I recall them slowly fading away all the time when tracking scents in Sodom. It was actually how I would tell if I was in a hurry to track the scents or not.

Indeed. I'm not the only one who remembers this though, several Sodomites do.
I've yet to actually test it because I'm lazy as hell and once I get started I won't sit there for 40 minutes to wait it tick but end up busy all day.

Which Sodomites would that be? I was totally confused by this thread the whole time which is why I didn't answer. Thought for a moment I had not realized how scents work for 2 years...
