Anti Virus warning?

Postby Griegor » Sun Jul 10, 2011 4:21 am

Hey,
Sometimes while browsing the forums on H&H my Malwarebytes program blocks outgoing communications going to a Russian IP address thats listed as malicious. Only seems to happen when browsing the forums here occasionally. Jorb do you or Loftar have any idea what could be causing this?

Most of the free ones are crappy. I use both symantec full version and malware bytes. I dont think there is a virus or spyware on my computer but I dont see how one can be embedded in the forums either so its a total mystery to me.

I dont have my laptop now I am back on my desktop. BUt it was an IP listed as going to the Russian Federation. It block it as outgoing every time I was surfing the H&H forums. Like there was somthing on my computer or embedded in the H&H forums or H&H map that was trying to send data to an IP in Russia. Malewarebytes block the IP because it said it belonged to IP designated as a threat.

Naa thats not it though. It's not related to the client. It only specifically seems to be popping up when browsing the forums or the H&H map. I am not sure which.

Try both, also try something like PeerBlock.
Symantec is probably fucking you over, it's absolute shit. MBAM + MSE and I've had no problems at all, you should consider 0 antivirus though, they rarely protect you when a virus hits and they almost never actually let you know beforehand. They provide almost no actual safety and by the time you've had any virus you are never sure it's completely gone so you will definitely want to reformat anyway only keeping flat files.
