Dying without someone having murder

What happened was my friend was trying to see how much damage he could hit, and didn't select spar. He doesn't even have the skill murder, however he hit me for like 700 damage, killing me even through he doesn't have murder. Is there anyway i can get my character back jorb/any gm, or am i going to have to start from scratch?

Yeah we were just messing around and laughing it up but then I killed him and I was really suprised. I feel like an asshole, is there anyway to get his char restored? I don't even have murder so I didn't expect anything to happen other than some funnies. But he ended up dying when I was laughing because I thought I just hit him for 705 without him dying, which wasn't the case. Please help us out.

ya i have often wondered about this. whats the point of the skill if you can kill someone anyways.

Some people have lots of HHP, and most attacks
do maybe 60 HHP per hit for a strong character,
during a raid you need that character gone as soon
as possible. without murder you can't deliver the
killing blow while they're on the ground, with it that's
one less target to worry about in hostile territory.

so is it correct to say that in this situation he managed to kill the guy because he killed him in 1 hit while he was standing and that if his first hit had knocked him out instead hit he wouldn't have been able to kill him while he was on the ground knocked out?

Yes.

If you need to kill someone you have hearth summoned but don't have Murder you have to stand there and wait until they become conscious again and the x's stop whirling before you hit them again... however long it takes. Getting the Murder skill is entirely unnecessary, but it does save a bit of time.

see, but the problem is when you read the skill notes for murder, it specificly says "you need this to kill people". In otherwords, we thought it would just knock someone out if they didnt have murder. Kinda misleading...
