Hide never turns to leather

Tanning tub has been stuck at 92% for about 2-3 weeks IRL now.
My first attempt I didn't bother using the cart trick, since then I've tried starting the process again, using the cart trick, using new hide.
No go

Leave it outside and never leave it indoors for a long time before it finished.
They stuck at 92-93% if there is no active players around. You need to wait near them for some time. I mean, you can left them outdoors and make other work at your plot at the same time. "Indoors" counts as different locations, so tube "thinks" that there is no one near, even if youre behind the door.

Indeed, tanning only works outside.

Many Old players have had or still have Alts at New Brodgar I believe. I think Burg (can't remember full name) had a few or so...
[Politics] The word was derived by the joining of two others, Poli - A Latin word meaning Many. And Tics - Annoying Bloodsucking Parasites...

This is actually not true.

The issue with having tanning tubs inside a house is that it works like with the cart:
When you leave the house for longer than a few moments the interiour is unloaded, thus the progress will reset to 92% when you enter the house later.

So you can easily make leather quickly by preparing the tub(s), leave the house for a short while, come back to find the tubs at 92%, then idle for anoter while in the room (or do other stuff for 15 min or so, eg. a nice chat with some peeps you know) and you're done. Also no decay on the tubs.
