How to get away:
Set your speed to the highest you can.
As soon as you're not dazed, run away as fast as you can.

Has worked for me a fair share of times.

Edit: while writing this post a fox seems to have ko'd me...time to try my own medicine.

I've tried that with a level 9 boar.

I think it chased me a good 15 minutes knocking me out, me running for 3 minutes while it catches up and missing me, repeat.

Eventually I had to kill it with init storing at the riverside.

Bump. Please consider looking into this soon, doing simple things like milking cows is made much too difficult by the camping animals. 10 minute trips shouldn't be cut short due to a fox that I can't outrun/kill.

I've noticed that Deer don't seem to suffer this bug. Compare their AI code and find out what's different.

Yeah, as the previous poster mentioned, this does not work with boars at all. I've done it with foxes and even bears, but boars are just too damn aggressive. They'll pursue you to the ends of the earth knocking you out if they could. I think they're innately more aggressive than other creatures, or something. Something is up with them.

As an addendum, I've noticed that deer have their own bugs. Not sure if it was mentioned yet, but their combat AI occasionally just seems to flick off while you're beating on them. This seems to happen most often when they charge at you from a certain direction. They'll stick to you and start twitching between directions. Eventually their combat AI flicks off and they'll just wander off while you beat them up.

I've done it with boars plenty of times. It just might take a few tries, and by a few, I mean quite a few.

Doesn't seem to work with bears at all. Or this bear in particular is just being an enormous douchebag.

No it works with bears, you just need to run in a direction they're not facing.
