it happens often enough and i never thought it was a bug.
the confusion comes from that all the other timers start from 0% and go towards 100%, while eggs start at 100% and goes down to 0% for hatching and people misunderstand it sometimes.

but i like the title and how you presented it ;) a good thread for Inn maybe, but not for Bug.

I meant, it doesn't (and shouldn't) decrease after you get it out of there.

Some people set up coops just for egglayers and then move the eggs they want to hatch to a second coop. If the timer expired as soon as you did that, the egg would die and make this impossible.

Both for the specific reasons why it's reasonable in real life standards as was already explained and because of:

It should be kept in.

I didn't think of that implication when i wrote. Obviously it has to work with copps. It shouldn't work in anything other than a coop, though.

Agreed, and certainly not under a dead chicken.
However it probably wasn't a problem of where it was in this instance but when you took it out.

It seemed like all my eggs died, regardless of 'completion' as soon as I picked them up. Didn't matter if they were right beneath a chicken or something. So I never experienced it.

However, I have experienced, when I let it get cluttered for whatever reason, that eggs two square below the chicken would be laid and hatch.
