logging in is "kinda" possible for me atm, but I doubt it will work for long since my place is getting more crowded.

-I log in, black ground textures, cant do anyting, closing client.
-I try to log in, account already logged in. I try until I can actually login, black ground textures, zzz / afk on my char visible, I cant do anything, closing client.
-repeating the previous step, with some luck I will have ground textures this time, zzz/afk animation, I can play.
-If I cant play I am just trying over and over again until I get tired of it >>

this also only seems to work if I try to reconnect right away.

This does not work when i am at huge places, like 1000x wheat fields, I will then have to use the "travel to hearth fire" option and get disconnected instantly. Then I got to use my above steps ><.

First: have enough RAM? The game really needs 512M to run in, so if your system doesn't have at least this much free (check under Task Manager), it might cause problems.

What client is being used? The original or a third party?

Drivers performing optimally for an OpenGL/Java program? There's not much way to test this other than trying to run other Java games utilizing OpenGL, which is mostly going to be 3D games (and there's not very many of those: Runescape and Wurm Online are the only two I can think of off the top of my head).

Finally, HnH is not optimized for the OpenGL pipeline. The code is available, a few people have looked it over, but I'm not sure if anyone has made any headway on redesigning a more streamlined client. That means it's going to have problems with rendering the graphics and if your video card, drivers, and even CPU aren't up to the task, it's going to crash you or hang.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

i have 4gb ram ... and always about 2gb freed up.
I am pretty sure my problem lies with the router after all. I checked on some port forwarding test sites if my ports are really being forwarded/open and it seems they aren't (it says timed out and filtered most of the time). I also read there are other people with the same router having trouble forwarding ports. It is correctly set in the router, but the router just doesn't forward them properly or not at all. It might also be my ISP.

I dont think its a graphic issue, I dont have any actual crashes, I just dont get any data from the server (or it gets blocked and the server then stops, whatsoever).

Yes, this is definitely look like connection problems. Client just can't load your environment from server. Your provider may have put you behind some sort of NAT that blocks connections from server. Try to go here and post screenshot with results. This is actually flash p2p connectivity checker, but it will tell some info about your connection. Just blur your IP from screenshot, if you do not want to share it.
