Was hoping this was by design, makes carrying things far distances much easier. I suppose I'll simply have to use it while it's still in place.
Helps for rescuing boats people lost too, since many don't know of it, I've found some valuable items in boats trapped in the river.
Really this is the only way I know of saving a boat trapped in the river without swimming (which I refuse to try), so if it's patched I'd hate to see a crash while in a boat :/

Load in a boat containers or fire wood, then take the second boat in hands. Also float home. Leave a boat having 1 boat on hands. Also it turns out at you two boats full of stocks!

Woot! I left valuable food items in my boat, logged off, and then discovered it was stuck in the middle of the river... I'm building a new rescue boat as we speak...
