Please do note that attacking them leaves vandalism scents, even on unclaimed land, and even without vandalism skill purchased. This is summonable and will last quite a while, so don't go smashing random hearthfires in the countryside or you might find yourself having been murdered in your sleep by a bored ranger.

A fresh avatar can destory them with a pickaxe and some water to refill stamina.
