That's not how -5/+2 works... Think about it.

I know, I know. My odds of getting shitty returns on seeds is higher. So, if I'm lucky and plant lots of my soil q cap, I can slowly work my way up. Might take more than twice as long, but I'll deal. :(

It's theoretically impossible to increase your crop quality by anything more than a 1.2x magnitude over your soil quality. If it were -2/+2, then yes, it would still be possible to have ubercrops, although it would likely take months. The problem with -5/+2 is that the average seed harvested is actually worse than the one you planted. No way to keep up an increase against those odds.

:(

So what I need to do is find a place with epic soil quality, have an alt set a claim, palisade it, and start a second farm where I get ubercrops which I bring back to my island. :D Works?

On q0 soil, assuming you have a large field and 3 seeds per harvest, it will take an average of 96 generations to reach q200 crops. Now multiply this by the length of the generation of each crop...
However if the exploits of surface spawning is not fixed, then we simply won't see any growth at all.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

If you built your town with the intention of being vulnerable, then these wouldn't matter. Make a wall with one open entrance and invite many villagers. Make them get decent in combat and wall up their own plot. Order them to kill anyone not in the village on sight. If you don't put all your eggs in one basket, it renders these exploits completely useless. You could have a few stone mansions brick walled in one area for silk and all your precious metals in strongboxes in another brick walled area. If they exploit, they will only get to hit some of your assets once and that gives you time to recover and even after that they still will have to exploit even more to get all your other mini-plots.

Yes that's a much easier solution than simply fixing the problem.

And you'll likely be promoting botting/macro tools and custom clients that enables them to have an advantage over other players, because you are not going to be able to get strong combat in a short time frame when it comes playing normally.

Don't see how you think botting and custom clients to be the same thing.
