If the outer wall borders the water, then wouldn't it also render alt spawning with hf-s near the wall impossible? So 2nd inner wall wouldnt be necessary.

Yes, but it's either have every damn wall section border the water, or let there be a 1 tile space le-way since battering rams need more room than that. Either way would be effective though.

I've done it.

Enjoy lots of cornerposts. :D[/quote]

With brickwall? That's a hell of a lot of wrought unless you had a really square island :P

Oh no. I don't have the mats to brickwall it. Q_Q Around 65 cornerposts adds up to 340 bars of wrought, and I don't think I calculated for the gate, either.

If I understood correctly, then just a caution: You are not allowed to build an island fortress/hearth vault in such a manner that there is no room for a ram.

I still can't imagine the shape of your fortress with 65 cornerposts. What's wrong with the good ol' 4 square-shaped walls?

:( Why not? I'm just a lonesome farmer, trying to make a living in this crazy world.

Clearly what you need to do is make a 200x200 village with a simple 50x50 plot in the center and then everything around that shall be short and small mazes that lead to dead ends.

Actually I think it's kosher if you use palisades, since they can be hand-bashed.
