I like that idea, but what about walls around your ram to keep it safe while drying?

I don't think it was ever intended for permanent structures to be used that way. Ill defer to Jorb or Loftar if it was. So my answer would be no. If you have the intent for war then commit to it and guard it.

can't be online 24 hours straight guarding a ram...

I agree some things are just too easy when it comes to griefing, but you don't want to go overboard on a fix and break more stuff.

Siege should not be easy.

There is a difference between easy and just outright impossible. Even with an army of people and changing shifts, guarding something for 8 solid hours is difficult, let alone 24. It can be done but it shouldn't have to be this tedious.

Having camped a ram for both 24 and 8 hours in the past, all i can say is no one should have to sit through that. People just spam alts at you from the moment they see you to the moment you finally (if the alts don't destroy it) get the ram to the wall and break the wall to the now empty town you're ramming. Walls are an ok bandaid to that atm, though it does suck when this kind of thing happens.

lol of course they're going to alt vault everything...and I think this probably needs to be moved to C&I now

I never said it should, but if you're not able to protect your ram(and its impossible without a wall) you can't seige at all. also think of abandonned claims just sitting about(less of a problem now than it was last world), you can't revoke the privelege if you can't get to the stake, but if you leave a ram outside a wall anyone who sees it(whether its their claim or not) is more than likely going to break it. the goody-goody players will break it to protect the claim's owner while the baddies will break it just to piss someone off...

ps: this is from a mostly peaceful player
