I had some HQ crops before and they got lowered as well.

How long ago was it that this happened?

A week or so ago. Let me see if this new batch comes out pure.

I planted some low-q (10 and down) crop, to see how things improved or declined with that. Maybe I'll get some Q10 and higher results. I'm hoping.

ok what the hell is going on with farming?

Postby Vlad99 » Thu Jan 20, 2011 6:20 pm

there has to be more to it then soil quality + farming skill. i have planted and harvested now hundreds of crops in q25 - 30 soil with a farming skill of 40. the starting seeds were between 9 and 20. 80% of my crops are coming out at quality level 1 with the rest from 2 - 5.

this is pretty ridiculous not to mention extremely annoying, am i missing something here?

I harvested a Q6 wheat seed on my nub ALT I literally just made. His farming was lv.1 and the Q of the soil is.. a BIT better.

I got a Q12 straw on my first harvest, too. Was a bit puzzling, hahah.

Yeah, something is a bit fishy with farming this world lol.

Some things I noticed:
-Less people around seems to result in higher Q crops.
-Less of an abundance of crops seems to result in higher Q crops.

Just a few things to consider when you guys set up your farming locations.

Obviously the soil Q and other things play a role but I was just mentioning other things as well.

Farming of 1 is better than the soil q currently. I could plant a q20 seed that I've just dried and any random newbie could get a q6 seed out of it.

See above, planting a q20 seed will easily give good results on the first generation, compared to following generations.

I think these too are likely based on your original planting of the higher q seeds from drying. All of my first generations were lower than expected, all of my following generations have been diving down to the q1-6 crapfest.

I'm still inclined to believe that it's due to ploughed tiles having an inherent quality of 0.
