That is all.

Yep. Working on their new baby. "The usual no updates for H&H until Salem is done", they say. At least we have confirmation of their intentions.

Hm... I'm wondering if the Nature/Industry slider has anything to do with it... like maybe you need full nature to plant and full industry to harvest, or else crop Q plummets...

I'm curious to hear about the phases of the moon idea too, or other external factors.

ed: Also, is there any evidence that crop rotation plays any effect on quality? Seems like an easy enough thing to experiment with...

I don't think it's crop rotation since I am constantly "depleting the soil nutrient" though my crops are slowly rising. My first guess is that the variance for the crop change is changed that it has a lower increase than decrease. At least I stop getting q0 fibre and straw.

OK, so far farming in World IV has been a major bummer. Just no fun at all. :(
Through some experimentation I/we have come across what might be at least a partial solution. Take all that worthless Q seed and use it to plant the area in grassland. Then plow it up and re-plant your crops.

The farming variance changed from -5 to 5 into -5 to 2. Soil cap is bad enough as it is but this change is highly unnecessary.

Wrong...ER... Wronger. Yes. Wronger. That is the word.

Seriously though, the variance didn't change like that, simply because it would be unreasonable to farm after that. A lot of the things J&L have done is to put more of an emphasis on farming - though lots of things got LP boosts, Farming is still HIGHLY efficient an LP source for the effort.

That being said, nothing quite beats the thrill of throwing 50 rocks at a bear over the course of an hour until it falls over from minor head trauma. :)

You won't be saying that in a week or two when you realize how many abandoned homes there are. A 30 second boat ride south of my village literally bring you to the ghetto. There's abandoned claims everywhere with the occasional newb taking things and raiders patrolling. It reminds me of Detroit.

Yeah, this isn't quite right. If that were true the tendency would be for crops to approach q1. People are seeing increases as a general rule however slow the increases may be. Even a range of -5/+4 would see a similar deterioration as -5/+2, but it would be much slower. If Loftorb wanted to slow down the crop quality climb -3/+3 would be pretty good, and even -2/+2 if they wanted to bring it to a crawl.

If it were me, I would have gone with ((seedQ*2 + soilQ)/3 )-3/+3 hard capped by farming skill at harvest including things like straw/fibers/leaves.
