Just for the record, it seems that you weren't summoned, but simply killed while you were AFK. Right next to your corpse is a runestone saying "RIP Mr. Tophat, neither good, nor bad. He looked like a spy and deserved to die."

The fact that your dude is gone from the character selection screen is a foolproof info that he is dead.

There is a "Event notification" in your "Account setting" -> "Enter an XMPP address to receive notifications of things happening in-game, such as trespassing on your claim:"
But I don't know if this includes character events like dead.

I know it notifies if you are summoned but I am not sure of murdered in general.
