Boar Taming Bug?

At the moment i am taming a boar, however i dont have very much experirence taming as i just got my first cow tamed yesterday. Anyways my problem is after using quell the beast the boar disengages combat and its as if the quell never happened (update on if i finally tame him) unlike the cow where you use quell the beast and it follows you around for about 10mins where you then repeat the process.

Edit: It still gave me tameness points however it was really annoying having to fight him right after the first tame becasue i didnt have the 10mins to regen some health

second edit: you can just let him arggo you as if you found him in the wild instead of waiting for him like cows which could save time if you have higher stats or have him in a gate
