Hard Leather used as an ingredient when making Hard Leather

Postby Lothaudus » Fri Sep 17, 2010 10:46 am

6 bits of leather in inventory + 2 Bees wax.

Cauldron on the boil. "Craft-all" Hard Leather.

First piece of Hard Leather is made.

2nd piece of hard is made - but first piece of Hard Leather disappears and I'm left with 1 bit of Normal Leather and 1 piece of Hard Leather in my inventory.

It seems that after making each piece of Hard Leather, I have to put it safely away so it doesn't get nabbed to make the next one.

This is like totally new and unheard before!

I did have the suspicion that this was a totally new and unheard of bug.

My reasoning being it surely would have been fixed otherwise.

AHAHAH. I kill myself sometimes I really do.

I wish this forum had a search function, then we could use that to find out if someone posted this bug before.

It's apparently not a bug, which is why it hasn't been fixed. Hardened leather is supposed to be a valid replacement for regular leather in all situations. Mass-crafting hardened leather is one of the many traps that keeps this game interesting :)

Well, I agree hard leather should be able to substitute normal leather, but not while creating hard leather, lol :D

Funny thing, after creating 10 hard leather pieces safely, I got distracted and made a backpack for a new member...wasn't as funny at the time though :D

Actually it's a good thing that hardened leather can replace leather even in this case, however there should either be a 'rehardening leather' formula that's separate or some way of making sure all leather is used before hardened leather gets used...

Leather recipes should call for "leather", "hardened leather" or "any leather". Hardened leather shouldn't work in recipes that specifically call for normal leather, and the hardened leather recipe itself should be one of those.
