Java Platform SE Binary has stopped working...

Postby Thrillho » Fri Oct 15, 2010 10:58 pm

Every time I try to launch HH Java fails with this error:

I've uninstalled, cleaned, and reinstalled my video drivers. Running an NVIDIA 8600 GT with the latest 260.89 drivers.
I've also cleared Java's cache, reinstalled it with the latest version and I still get this error.

nvoglv32.DLL is part of NVIDIA's openGL system, but I don't get this error on Minecraft (another Java based game that uses openGL) so I'm rather stumped.

Any idea what the problem could be?

I am also having this same problem, one thing I notice is that we are using the same drivers, 260.89, but I have a GTS 450 card.
I also tried reinstalling Java, and reinstalling my drivers, and clearing the Java cache.

I'm thinking the only thing I have changed is upgrading from 9600 GTS, to the GTS 450, so I am wondering if it is a problem with Nvidias drivers and the game.

From a quick search on google, I found other people have had this problem as well. Not with only Haven and Hearth but, with programs or games that use OpenGL in general.
But, I couldn't exactly find a fix.

There is this: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=181806
Where the OP suggested a few temporary fixes.

Went into program files and uninstalled just the 3D Vision driver, game is running now. Not sure what I am going to do when I buy my 3d monitor and glasses though :(

Have you tried older drivers than the 260.99 ones? Not long ago someone had this problem too, he installed some older driver for his graphics card and it worked.

I have the very same problem.
I have upgraded my NVidia graphic driver to v.260.99 yesterday and since then the game freezes as it starts.
The diagnosis says that there is a problem w/ NVOGLNT.DLL file. As someone wrote before, it's related w/ OpenGL.
I'm using the Java v. 6.0.220.4.

So here is what i tried.
I tried reinstalling the Java. Didn't work.
Then I googled and found an old version of NVOGLNT.DLL file. I backuped my dll file and replaced it w/ older one.
It worked but the game didn't worked properly. Laggy, some graphic glitches. So I restored the dll file.
I'm finding the one-step-before-the-latest version of the graphic driver but I just can't find it.

I recommend those who use NVidia graphic driver not to upgrade the driver until this problem is solved.
And if anyone has the driver just before the latest version of the driver please DM me.
1 Nevermind. I found out that NVidia provides older version drivers on the official website. I'm tring to install them and if it works, I'll post the result here.

Well at least I have fed my cattles before I logged out:p

The 260 series does seem to have problems of some kind. Jorb also started crashing with them. You can get previous versions of nVidia drivers here. Try the latest non-260 drivers and see if that helps.
