Problem with fullscreen

Some of my friends use Windows 7 and Vista and when they try to put fullscreen in default client the game goes white and jams.
Anyone else with same problem or solution? Can somebody recommend another client? Preferably not gilbertus and one that allows you to increase window size.

Why not gilbertus? Also, fullscreen on the default client is useless because it doesn't actually increase the tiny resolution at all, it just makes it bigger.
