Hearth fire mess

Just some annoying weirdness with the last server down.

My friend and I had both gone out and placed both our hearth fires right next to eachother at exactly the same time. Then I signed off and he kept playing until the server died.

When it came back up, he spawned at his hearth fire, but I spawned back in Brodgar with the dream still in my inventory. The thing is, my hearth fire is apparently still there with his. What's going on?

I'll have to hike back and make another, but will my old one disappear when I do? It'd drive me crazy having the bugged one there taking up space. I'm guessing the game doesn't think it's mine anyway.

EDIT: On talking about it, it seems that the logging out didn't register for some reason. My friend says my person was just idling asleep after I logged out. I had a ?-combat thing from some fox I'd left on the other side of the world at the time, so maybe that's what did it. If so, that bothers me, since I invariably accrue about 4 or 5 of those every time I play and they never go away until i log out.
But I guess that means that my character never saved even though the fire did.

Is there any chance the bugged fire can be removed? Please?

I know someone who had a similar problem, and making a new hearth fire solved it. I don't think it makes the old one go away though.

Placing a new hearth fire does make the old one go away (at least, my old one has gone) but I'm not sure if it's instant or takes some time.

Normally, indeed, placing a new hearth fire will remove the old one instantaneously. It's another thing if it were left due to a server crash, on the other hand: the new hearth fire placement will check the character data for the old one, so if it weren't saved, then it can't be removed.
