I was rolled back?

I just got disconnected from the game while riding
a boat with a friend, he was driving. When i log back
in i'm over water as expected but he's no where near me
even though he stopped when i got logged. I am now
quite a bit of a ways back from him and half my inventory
is missing. i think i got rolled back?
