Thorn in the foot... while chopping a tree down

Realising that I had a thorn in my foot, no shoes and only about one shp left between me and unconsciousness I clicked on the nearest tree and selected "Chop" with the intent to produce emergency clogs. Somewhat to my surprise a moment later I lay unconscious at the foot of the tree and a little animation showed my axe chopping steadily away. How strange! I was chopping the tree while flat on my back watching the birdies. In fact the tree was down before I was up...

I'm not sure that is meant to happen

Odd. I once had the same thing in World 3 and when I passed out the tree-chopping stopped.
