Haven And Hearth Unplayable

Postby Deebalee » Tue Feb 01, 2011 6:28 pm

My System:
Windows 7
8800 GT 1Gig Dedicated Ram
2.2 Core 2 Dou
4Gigs of DDR2 RAM
-------------------------------------

I'm this should be more than enough to play this game
I've checked and updated all my video drivers and this game still doesnt work

The only thing i can think of is Javaw.exe is taking up most of my processor
When I launch the game instantly 99-100% of my CPU is being used

I have no idea what the problem is.
Is there a fix for javaw.exe or an alternetive way to run H&H(non-java based)

PLEASE HELP ME.

No there's no alternative way. Yes your computer sucks. I mean, umm, it sounds like you have something misconfigured, probably in Java. Maybe you should uninstall and reinstall Java.

Other than that, yes, I ahve a quad core @3G and java eats up one core at 100% so that's not unusual.

How is the game "unplayable"?

You won't be saying that in a week or two when you realize how many abandoned homes there are. A 30 second boat ride south of my village literally bring you to the ghetto. There's abandoned claims everywhere with the occasional newb taking things and raiders patrolling. It reminds me of Detroit.

Make sure your video drivers are the latest they can be. Also, 8800GT With "1Gig Dedicated RAM" - is that an onboard video or a separate discrete video card with its own memory? If it's shared memory, get a real video card because you won't have any chance of playing any games.

Some Machines should have no problems playing H&H and are, inexplicably, unable to. Others should be weak and puny and play the game fine. I've never seen reasoning.

There is no reasoning, OpenGL is a maze and loftar is lost.

I have a laptop, comparable to the stats you listed. I run H&H at ~20 FPS, except when it inexplicably drops to 8. This is kind of a noob thing, but you need to get the drivers from the manufacturer and not the Windows Device Manager, which will tell you everything is up to date.
Come back two hours earlier.

How true.

Probably not going to work out but if you're desperately trying to get HnH to run and cannot do it on win, try it with a linux livecd. 99% it'll suck even more. 1% it'll work better. Did so for me on one PC. Especially with NVidia chipsets, they're supposed to work quite well w/ restricted drivers enabled.

[brag]
I can run HnH with my laptop's intel back-up VGA at 20FPS... sometimes...

Its has its own memory, but thats beside the point. and yes my drivers all up to date. I still at a lose trying to figure out this problem. Some say that Javaw.exe has a memory leak in it in some cases. But with my little knowledge of Java(none) I would no be able to detect, yet alone fix this problem
