My characters are gone! Duplicated accounts?

I logged in today since 5 days, and then all my characters are gone. I log in as usual, but where i should select my existing characters they're not there.

So I created a new character and entered my Hearth secret and found out my main character is alive, but in some limbo. I checked my mail and realized i have two confirmation mails from Seatribe, one from 4/22/2010, before the server reset, an old account that i never played, made from my desktop PC, and the new one and my main from 2011, made from a laptop about a month ago.

So when i input my username and password i log in (from my desktop PC),my account info displays i'm logging into the 2010 account. As far as I know, it's the same username and password for both accounts.

A friend says in theory i shouldn't have 2 accounts since the registration should have prevented me from using the same mail twice, and my username as well should have been declined, to obviously prevent duplicated accounts and registry problems.

How can I solve this? Can I somehow delete my 2010 account so I can only use the 2011 one? Or do mods can give me back my username(s) and password(s) to my mail?

I am pretty sure you can make unlimited accounts for a single email address; so your friend's thoughts are wrong.
At least it was like this at one point seeing as how 4 out of 6 or 7 accounts I have are made with the same email address.
