Being disconnected within seconds of logging on

Every time start my character, I can walk around and such for about 5-10seconds, and the game freezes.
This error occurs with a wireless college connection, using a proxy. However, about a week ago this same combination worked perfectly fine. windows updated in that time, but i deleted the update -_-
Works perfectly fine at home, at&t wan card, no proxy.

Probably because of the proxy.

My friend wanted me to respond for him (he's away from his computer at the moment). He wanted me to say that he needs the proxy to log on because they block the game. He wanted to know if there is another way to run the game that would work given this scenario?
