Certain Building/Creation options are missing

I'm playing H&H normally, and I'm looking for food, materials for tools, etc. and when I have bones and branches to make a bone saw, the option is unavailable to me as if I haven't unlocked it. I have the items, but the option to create it is mom-existing in my options. I play with a friend who has some experience and she tells me that I have everything and I know this is true because she has already made one. I have no clue if I am missing any more Creation or Building options or not, but I know that creating some tools, and cooking certain foods is unavailable to me, along with being able to craft curiosities. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Side Note: Sorry if anyone has already solved this problem, I looked through a few pages and couldn't find the solution to my problem.

You have to actually discover the items yourself (pick a branch from a tree / catch and butcher a rabbitchicken).
