Issues: Mass Destruction tactics

Postby shadowchris » Thu Apr 07, 2011 5:31 am

Dear hearthlings, the issue of destroying/getting into villages within effort has devestated world 4. One major Mass destruction tactic is the famous tunneling tactic. To mine intoa nother persons mine hole and come up to the surface in another village.
Issue? It still stands and is being used by raiders to ruin another world.
I have brain stormed hypothesis that is causing this to happen.
Hypothesis1: Mining patterns

The problem is within the code and a game breaking mining tactic. Everyone is aware of the famous mining pattern. Used to escape cave ins. However, its not only known for escaping cave ins. They're used to mine into another mine.
Due to the cave in feature,we use this dirty tactic to ensure no cave in. I think the problem is,people using this tactic is breaking the 600x600 border code that is set in every mine.

Solution? Simple. Prevent the idea of mining patterns by making it for the same as mining regularly. There is an issue in the cave in coding that doesn't allow cave-ins to happen when using this tactic. Therefore, needs to be overlooked.

This should make mining patterns useless.

No more tunneling

Trying to use mining patterns will cause cave ins in definently.

Hypothesis 2:Border line bug
The second issue is this in invisible wall known as the border. Issue? Either its bugged or its not there. Which caused the following game breaking issue right now. The ability to mine into another one.
Solution? Investigate and see what is missing/if there's a problem.

no. we should always be able to connect 1 cave system to another, and the mining into mineholes is not a bug it is a really smart idea.

though something should be done about the mining pattern.
+1 for the solution to the mineing pattern, for the rest- its good as is :|

- build a brickwall around ur caveentry/minehole
- hf to search for mines in deeper layers without corkscrew

Why does everyone insist on leaving there mine holes un-walled? It baffles me. If you think its too much extra work, don't build the mine hole inside your wall!?

I can not begin to fathom why people don't build walls in their mine holes or cave entrances. Why do you even bother with a wall on the surface? It's only a facade to help you sleep easy at night.
You may have foiled the plans of BAD-EVIL this time, but there is no rest for the wicked.

Utterly wrong.

The problem is within dumb people who can not grasp basic security concepts.

This thread is fail.

People being able to enter from the mine is an obvious risk that comes with having a mine hole within your border.

If expecting to have a mine in thier border a player simply needs to be aware of the risks and take actions to lessen them as much as possible.

I do however wish that the pattern mining was dealt with. I have never used the pattern myself because i think it goes against the spirit of the game. And i wish that others had to play as intended also.

Im aware dumb people have problems with securing the mine. I wasn't aware of the fact that it was a accepted idea by jorb and loftar. So I thought it was a prooblem inside the code.
