Unable to play!

I got dragged in with the rest of the Bay12 crowd that infests these lands, but I cannot join my brothern horde, sadly enough. When attempting to play from Opera, I receive a prompt to download a .psp which no amount of registry cleaning and bug fixes will work on. One of the B12'ers said this was common, and that IE needed to be used. My problem there is, once I click the button it starts to load an entirely new (different task bar tab) IE page which it immediately exits, and deposits me back onto the login page with the boxes empty. I've heard so many good things about this game and desire so greatly to play, but by some tragedy, the likes of which have never been seen before, I simply cannot.

sounds like you have some local system issues...

Normally my advice in such cases is to format and start again, but if you're not keen on that, then maybe try downloading firefox or chrome and using that... also make sure you've got java installed (open a cmd window and type java -version and make sure it's a version greater than 1.5

I'm not entirely sure, but it sounds as if you don't have Java installed. Could you just confirm whether or not that's the case?

I had Java installed, updating to 6-13 since my computer notified me that it's a new version.

That sounds weird, but other people seem to be having the same problem. I can't say I know what the cause is, but try following the instructions in this thread.
