Toggling Criminal Acts during swimming

Postby p1geonman » Thu Sep 10, 2009 10:56 pm

While treading deep water, I was unable to turn Criminal Acts on in order to swim to the other bank. The owner of a claim on that side extended his claim out into the middle of the river, turning the water into a wall and potential deathtrap for people who don't start with Criminal Acts turned on.

I think claims shouldn't count over water.

That counts double for when boats get in. It's hard to imagine how one might even leave trespassing scents WHEN YOU'RE AT SEA. Of course, it's only fair to leave scents if you come on land when within properties.

Some might say that this would make it to easy to simply swim into coastal or riverside plots. This makes some sense, though.

Even worse than Scent issues would be that for only a few hundred points, you could claim across a central trading river and wait for boats to fall into your territory.
Surprise.

Who cares about trespassing scents.

Hmm - given the shape of rivers and the shape of claims, it can be difficult to avoid having claims run over water. It might also be useful to have a claim extend over shallow water. But such claims should not be a deathtrap - it seems only natural that anyone would trespass to avoid death, regardless of their normal attitudes - and that anyone sane would forgive this.

Certainly, the trespassing scent is one thing- but there's also the fact that once you've sailed into a claim, much like what might happen if you pull a cart onto a claim, will no longer belong to you.

Altough it's probably gonna function in some other way.

You gotta trust the devs to have the foresight to take care of problems like that. They already know about carts, after all.

And even if it slips by them, that's what we're here for.

Actually, that is kinda sorta fixed. Each cart now saves who last pulled it, and that last puller can continue pulling the same cart even if it has been stopped on a claim or in a village during that time.
