Cannot name my character

I think something simple was missed in character deletion, the need to add the complete removal of any details about characters from the account when deleted, therefore I cannot use my old deleted character name after dying as it tells me "You already have a character by that name." but seen as it was deleted this is no longer true.

if it is not too inconvenient, could you please remove the character name from my profile details so I can re-use the name I want. Thanks guys.

I learnt that it was intended to have runestones for your dead characters which I guess is why it stores the name with the account, however I do not wish to use a different name when I can no longer use my old character, can it be changed where the inherit feature allows you to inherit the name or just the ability to use the names of your characters that are dead? I really don't want a different name and will wait till I can use my old name before making my character.

Just name your inherited character something like Cool Dude II, where "Cool Dude" is name of dead char.

you can't use the same name. add a space, or 2 or II or Junior or something.

That's because you can not delete characters. Dead characters become ancestors so that you can inherit their stats.

That's not the problem here. The problem here is getting his stats and keeping his name.

Thanks for all the replies, it's the fact I want the name of my old character seen as I will never get to use him again and it's the name I play games with whether people see it or not.

I was hoping that I could have the option to inherit the name or set my name to my old character's name.

You do not as loftar is lazy however you can name it "Fury " (Notice the space), instead of "Fury".

Other popular alternative's are "Fury II" "Fury's Son" " Fury" "Woohooo I'm Fury!" "Fury the Second" and of course "Fury is a cool dude".

Closest you're getting though is the space after, it's quite common.

Problem here is that loftar seems to always refer to characters by name, so even after dead it is referred to by name which is unique, instead of some ID or something, so you can't reuse the name or it would reference two different 'characters' to the same name. (My understand of his explanation a long time ago anyhow)
