Things Disappear on Stone

Postby Senith » Mon Sep 14, 2009 2:51 pm

2 of my wicker baskets have disappeared today without showing any signs of decay. They were both on stone and they just vanished. One of the baskets had some carrots in it and they just dropped on the floor. I see no point in stone if my stuff is gonna disappear on me with any sign of decay.

Try this recipe: Create a bucket, place it on the stone floor inside a log cabin on a claim, return in 8 hours. Bucket gone.

Please dont reply if you dont know what your talking about. For 1 a log cabin has WOODEN floor not stone. And anything inside a log cabin wont disappear. My issue involves a paved road meaning outside.

Things don't decay at all in cabins and mines.

Small items (such as anything that fits in a character's inventory) will vanish if left alone for a while.

As for the baskets, it sounds like they where stolen and the carrots dumped on the ground to rot. You where probably lucky to arrive in time to get them.

There is still an off chance that something odd happened, so keep an eye out for things decaying strangely on stone.
Surprise.

Are you saying this is due to people walking off with it? I really doubt that, in this case. Try it yourself and let me know.

My baskets are inside a pallisade and its always closed. If i ever leave my walls they are always closed. So there is no way someone got in to steal a WICKER basket. I have like 60 wicker baskets with things so i dont think someone would come in to steal a dam basket.

Wicker baskets are very weak, and decay really quickly as people who just start tend to build a ton of them.

As I said in IRC things don't just disappear. People are either stealing it, moving it or they are decaying (Which is what is happening here.) Things placed on stone do not stop decay it only slows it down.

If you look at plowed land it decays in a random pattern, so your basket was unlucky enough to be on a tile that got hit with a decay pulse at that time.

To decay in an instant is stupid and should be removed from stone roads. Cause my baskets were brand new and showed no signs of decay. I have never seen a basket decay so quickly.

Eh, as far as I know wicker baskets can only take one hit of decay and fall appart. That means that they decay on the first hit =|

Get some urns, they last longer.

One of the first days I was playing, I logged in and saw that in a row of 4 wicker baskets one in the middle had disappeared. The others were in top condition, and remained that way for almost 2 weeks. This was all behind a brick wall with a gate. Baskets are just really weak. I've had this happen overnight with drying frames too, but it's really rare.
