Making a mine hole over a cave lake?

Postby sweetfoo » Wed Oct 19, 2011 4:35 am

Hello fellow hearthlings and hearthlords!

My friends and I have come across a most disheartening issue. We spent a solid amount of time and effort into constructing a mine hole as well as palisade in a spot we deemed perfect to do so on. However, when we were finished with the construction, the mine hole was inaccessible. Of course we at first figured that it was either blocked or claimed, but there was no message of the entrance being blocked and even with criminal acts turned on, we couldn't go in!

Bewildered, we eventually came to the conclusion that there must be a lake underneath the entrance. Our efforts to try and climb down with swimming turned on did not prove fruitful either. I was wondering what exactly it is that is preventing us from entering the mine hole, and if the whole lake theory does prove to be the case; I think there should be some in-game recognition of this. If we could receive any clarity on this or perhaps some in-game assistance, it would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for your time :)

Find a cave and go look for yourself.

At least no lack of imagination at this point. ('Splash' ... oops ... shit ... 'Blup'.)

:) Thank you for your responses Onionfighter and mvquilik.

Upon further investigation, we found a cave not too far off, but even this cave was inaccessible. I've heard the phrase "nuked underground" a couple times... if what I have been told about such a place is true, then I believe we were given quite the short end of the stick. Is there any way to verify this?

You're refering to this: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20403

Nope, there's nothing you can do other than try to find the boundary of the area and dig down there. I think the dead zones have been noted on the maps*, so you should be able to find the exact boundary before attempting to spend the materials on another mine hole.

*maps being the ones in the thread I linked. I don't think algeralith has placed any indicators on his world map, though it has been requested.

Thank you MagicMan for clarifying this. I wasn't able to find our coordinates on the map, nor could I find a map for that matter (only a small list of coordinates of known nuked areas). I suppose will just have to make a mine further out or perhaps on another island just to be safe.

Again, thank you everyone for your replies.

If you can find yourself on algeralith's world map, the numbers are around you can translate the nuked and locked down areas to make sure if you are sitting on one or not.

Ah, yes, thank you again! Turn out that I am on the very edge of one area. Not too much distance to travel before I'm in the clear :).

Thank you all for helping me resolve my problem.
