Win 7 64 bit MEGACRASH

Postby banok » Thu Oct 27, 2011 10:20 pm

so first off I tried the ender mod client, fixed the "Windows cannot find javaw." as detailed. but after black boxed briefly appears nothing happens! tried several installs and diff versions of java and different paths to jawa but when there is no error its seemingly impossible to troubleshoot.

So then running the game normally. well it runs ok but after a short while it crashes to a odd dark blue screen which is blank, and I have to forcibly restart my whole PC!

I have tried several types of java install, 32bit/64bit, chrome/firefox and even an older version than latest.

it seems to crash when I get exp or buy skill so It might be to do with it playing sound. I tried turning sound to 0% but there is no proper sound disable. although device manager reckons my sound driver is upto date, I dont trust it. There doesn't seem to be a palpable why to update sound drivers like you would video.

after several hours of trying to get this game to work on my new PC, i'm stumped and seriously do not think this game suited for modern technology, my friend has different type of crash on 64 bit. I get the feeling java and 64 bit are not friends. my only friends playing it have outdated PC's.

Other than downgrading my PC, any expertise is welcome!

In case your Windows dies with freeze or bluescreen then you have to fix either your drivers - or your hardware.

Here's the checklist:
- you overclock: revert to stock settings
- havn't done it: do a RAM test (f.ex. memtest68+) and CPU (f.ex. prime95) test

=> no point in fiddling with software when your hardware is broken <=

- having the yellow plague (norton antivirus): deinstall it
- system not up-to-date: install current drivers for all your hardware

Your java error seems to be widespread and is not a windows issue.
Some info on java and client version might be helpful.

I would agree I've dealt with hardware failure a few times on my old PC. except this isn't a normal blue screen of death, it was blank very dark blue. plus sometimes it just freezes and I can still see the screen.

plus after I got that error which didn't crash windows, only H&H I reinstalled java slightly differently "web install", tried H&H again and it crashed whole pc again. basically theres anoying different types of java install and i'm noticing different crashes with different installs it seems. so its java.

ok I read you should use java 1.5 for H&H so I installed that instead and now the game is working much better, only 1 crash so far and was after a good while playing.
