FIshing pole error

After successfully fishing for 3 hours my lure breaks than I try to replace it. For some reason the game doesnt recognize that my pole is fully constructed and has a new lure on it, tried with multiple lures, and so it shows that I have a stringed pole with no bait. I unequipped the pole even, made a new pole, new string, new lure, and still nothing. Tried leech bait. not working either.
