Lag -.-

Postby Leviwulf » Thu Dec 01, 2011 4:09 am

Twice in one day, server lags out, and I come back dead. First from a boar that literally came from out of the edge of the map, and killed me the second it appeared, and the second from ants that I was running from at the time of a lag spike. I really liked this game but, no way in hell I can go back after getting screwed like that twice.

Custom client will most likely help you here. But as for the logging out, Well I'm not sure... I really never have any problems.

I'm using Endersclient. The boar came from offscreen on Enders, immediately to me (In less than a second) and I was dead.

Well, Ender's might very well be why your having such issues with lag. Have you tried any other client and seeing if your getting the same problem? Gilbertus and Arksu both let you do object hiding.

Friend using the base client got the same lag on both occasions, and several others that were nonlethal.

If ur fully zoomed the chances of an animal walking off screen to u and killing u is very slim. You probably just got unlucky or weren't at full zoom. Either way, as 2 students game they make as a hobby, the lag is likely here to stay for a while. Just gotta get used to it, or move on to something else.

If you have Comcast as an ISP, I've noticed they have a router somewhere in Europe on the route to the HnH server that will flake out and drop packets like mad for anywhere from 1 minute to 15 minutes. Unfortunately, since it's part of the backbone, there's not shit any one of us can do about it.

Yeah, there is. Tell Comcast to fuck off and get another ISP. Dial-up would be better than dealing with that shit.

i will also add that enders uses alot of memory, if you have below 4gig memory on your pc then this can be laggy, and from your description, i am almost certain its your memory being low, you are running auto updates, or some memory hungry antivirus, or trying to run 2 clients on separate accounts, or something similar - check task manager to see what memory is being used,

if you have over 4 gig memory and nothing else stealing it, then blame your Internet supplier or modem, because there hasnt been any lag like yours this month, or generally since the new server,,

Ender's uses less than 512M. Unless you go and change the command line parameters, that's all the more Java is going to allow the client to use.
