While boating...

So as of Dec 3rd, the server crashed while I was foraging on my boat. What will be the results of this? Will I just log back in on my boat when the server comes back up (assuming someone hasn't moved it.) or will I be at my HF with boat on ground or something. Any clarification would be great.

dont panic,, presuming no-one gets to your boat and moves it befoee you log on, one of 2 things will happen,,

1. you'll still be in your boat where you logged off,
2. you'll be standing on the shore close to your boat - although the boat may still be in the river and unreachable,,

in short you wont die from this,, unless someone moves the boat.

you will NOT be hearthed home automatically

Since the server crashed theres probably a good chance you just won't be able to log in where you logged out. You never know though.

thats a good point bmjclark,

if you get the options 'log to hearthfire' and log to wilderness' . then choose hearth, cos your boat is lost, and you will be somewhere random in the world

if you do have the option to log to where you logged out, one of those 2 things i mentioned will happen,

it has happened to me a few times, server crash on a boat, and could log back to boat or shore with no problem

Neither of these happened, though I appreciate the response. I was standing on the water (NO BOAT) and could only walk around on top of the water about the actual space my boat would have taken up (dont know if this makes sense.) So I just hearthed to village Idol, not sure if my boat is still out there though gonna go take a check

This means that someone stole your boat :(

It's entirely possible that they abandoned it nearby though, especially if it didn't have anything too interesting in it. If you manage to find it again, remember that you can pick up a boat that's in the water, and carry it over your head, while in another boat. To put it down you need to get out of your boat first then drop it as normal.
