Lag problems

Postby devicuse » Tue Jan 10, 2012 2:28 am

I'm trying to play at the moment and am enjoying the game, however I'm getting lots of annoying lag spikes. I will click to go somewhere, watch my character walk, walk past it and then snap back, or things just won't respond, sometimes I'll get options to perform actions but can't click them sometimes I won't when I try.. The cursor will move not be freezing and, I can't even close windows during spikes though if I click the x to do so, it depresses and recognises it. I am presently using ender's client but got the same problems in the normal client.

I'm running with ati graphics and it's fairly up to date driver wise (I think the last update I got was 2 months ago). I reinstalled and updated my java today. I've allowed the application on the firewall but I am behind a router.

Does anyone have any advice or common solutions? I checked the forums and saw "update java" a lot so I made sure that was done.

Server lag, restart should fix it to an extant. There's of course still some lag though even on the best of days.

It's been going for a few days but it has been getting worse, I take it the server restarts periodically and hasn't too recently?

If so, then thanks, I guess that's it. At least I'm on a level playing field then.

Edit: Yep. Still lagging. Is there some port forwarding or the like needing doing?
