Really weird boat claim thing...

so me and a friend were heading to do some fun things, we each had a boat, we went onto a village claim to check it's walls he DCd and had to log back at his hearth, so i got in my boat, picked up his and sailed off the Vclaim, i got out of my boat, with his boat above my head, and regardless of the fact i wasn't on a claim i could only move around on one tile, so i thought i'd just log out so the boat falls next to where i logged, nope, it disappeared with two chests :/

the only reasoning i can think is some weird stuff about me only having trespassing and not theft, any ideas?

Claims can be picky. If it had been your boat it may very well have droped. Its like sometimes the game remembers who owns what. Since it was not yours and you were on a claim it would require theft to take it. Logging or trying to travel try's to circumvent it and the game ttreats it as you dont have theft. Since you moved off claim you may have created a glitch. Item could not be moved but it did. Did you try looking where you picked boat up originally?

Well thats how I seem to have figured it out through my own errors. Hoep it helps. I may be wrong on it though.

Since you got out of the boat, and couldn't move, it's likely when u logged out the boat dropped into the water, and for some reason when that happens, the boat just disappears.

If you log out over water while lifting something, the lifted item disappears. I use it regularly to get rid of runestones and skeletons.
