Clients (Ender and default) problems

Postby Lordician » Sat Apr 07, 2012 7:44 pm

Hello people.
I am sort of addicted to this game, however, i cannot play from home (and that is really bad since i need to help my friends :P).
Anyhow, i have this horrible problem which i have searched so many times on.
But i just can't seem to find an answer. :(
Mostly it ends in, get a better/new router.
But this is not really a do-able solution to me. :(

The problem at hand is:
Default client - Log in, black loading screen forever.
Enderclient - Log in, objects visible, black ground.
In both cases i cannot do anything.
And if i try to open a menu thingy (skills, kin, inventory) in the enderclient, even animations from hearthfires and all that freeze up too.

I have attached a picture of my connection test or whatever, which enderwigg asked for in another topic.

Does anyone know anything that i can try?

I have tried to open the ports 1870 UDP and 1871 TCP.
Re-installed enderclient (with updater).
Delete belt (pants fell down :P ).

Why isn't a new router doable? If you're on any DSL or cable connection, take your modem back for an exchange (faulty hardware). I seriously doubt this is the issue.

Sure it's not your computer causing this? I've got three computers I've played from every one but my personal desktop computer boots the clients up quickly. One is faster, the other is as old. I've not been able to trace down the problem. :| I've got some ideas, but none I'm ready to do a "fix" for as it requires replacing hardware I can't afford.

Sorry? I do not really understand what you are trying to say. :S
But from what i can see is that you don't know a good solution?

No, not off the top of my head, but if the router truly is the problem, either you have one between your home computer and internet connection (DSL/cable modem) or your modem is your router. Remove the router and see if that fixes the problem. If it is the router, have you attempted to update firmware, etc. on it? If it's your DSL/cable modem that's causing the problem, as I said, contacting your provider can usually get you a replacement.

If replacing the router is a money situation, I am definitely one that can understand that (haven't had a full-time job in six years now). There are solutions, though, if you're willing to be creative, and I don't mean anything that could potentially be illegal, either.

edit: Sorry, still missed making the point... my computer is doing the same thing. The other two aren't. So, it could be a router issue that can potentially be worked around OR it could be something with your computer that needs fixed.

My modem is my router, yeah.
Sorry for not saying that. :P

To top things off, i am still living with my parents and they wouldn't see a reason to replace it since we recently got a new one (the old one was ancient they said at tech support xD).

Gosh, i hope they fix up some bugs like this soon, i am sure they can get around this bug somehow.
This is the only game i have played where something like this happened.

HnH will run just fine with 1.6 or 1.7. Anything older and it won't run at all. It could be one of the odd compatibility issues such as running a 32 bit app with Java 64, but that's a rare one from my understanding, though one worth testing.

If it's a new router, there very well could be updates needed for it or there's something faulty in it.

There may be something set in a firewall or antivirus that's blocking a connection, too.

Just a note, there are some way more experienced tech people around here than I, but for some reason, none of them like answering these posts, so I do the best I can. If you don't like it, I'll be glad to let your posts go ignored. ;)
