Bugs needs a "troubleshooting" thread

Postby MagicManICT » Tue Apr 17, 2012 3:31 am

With the recent problems this weekend, I was thinking this would be extremely helpful. I've taken some powerful expectorants, though, and my head is full of fluff, so I'm not even going to try to start on this tonight. However, if others are willing to help with ideas, I'm willing to organize the thread. I try my best to help people troubleshoot, but I'm honest and say that I'm total crap at it compared to some of the IT pros here.

well the main one is mostly a server issue, but yeah i can see how this can help with minor bug issues.

i think there shouldn't be just a troubleshooting thread in Bugs section but a whole troubleshooting section with different threads for different errors...

and i'd give a hand

Sounds kinda vague (or fluffy) if you ask me.

... but I'm all for the fixing part ... :?

Yeah, that's the problem. Troubleshooting can be pretty vague at times. ;)

We really need that - it's horrible to look for something and having to look through different pages in Bugs and How do i? for a problem where the solution was found already...(yep i know search but sometimes it's not easy to get the right terms to find the right thread)

I think we need to discuss how it should look to give the Devs and mostly the moderators an idea and less work...maybe even someone with phpBB experience can jump in pls to create a "Template" ...

That, sir, is actually a better idea! I'm lost on how to organize it, though. Could use something to play around with. I think, maybe, that the idea is to have a handful of key posts and then people could work through an issue kind of like multiple branching troubleshooting guides? Is that possible with forum software?
