Crashing

Postby kratosstrength » Wed Apr 18, 2012 1:04 am

So, I came back to this game after awhile of being alienated by losing everything to raiders, and was horrified to find that my game's begun crashing.

It happens pretty much every time I play, and seems to be correlated with how far away I go from my hearth fire. It rarely ever happens inside my palisade, whether I am idle in there or am actively working inside. On the other hand, it crashes every time I try to go exploring along a river, and I almost always lose a boat in the process. Logging in where I logged out after a crash almost always leads to a subsequent crash. And when I say crash, I mean that the window freezes.

I use 64 bit windows/Java with Ender's client, and reinstalling Java and the client have not helped. Any suggestions?

Maybe the default values in the .bat file need to be increased. Ender's caches all the minimaps generated in RAM and that can suck up extra space eventually causing it to slow down or hang up. Instead of the default (-Xms256m -Xmx512m), you might try replacing with these following values: (-Xms512m -Xmx768m). You might even be able to bump the -Xmx switch to 1024m. I'm not sure if that will help, but it's something to try.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

disable "scanners" - does it crash?

use "pause" argument in your run.bat

mark error in CMD window, copy with CRTL+C, paste into Notepad - post - put in error message in [code] tags

It was defiantly the radar... ):
With it off, I played for hours with it off. As soon as it went on, it was done. White screen of crash.
I can't get an error message(or don't know how). it just goes white and the pause doesn't help.
