Complicated Haven Error

Postby FierceDeityLink0 » Tue May 15, 2012 4:34 am

When running haven(Enders version and default) i always encounter a strange and annoying bug. Haven will run as it should and open. I am able to log in and view the character screen, but this is where i have problems. The background behind the characters is supposed to be mountains or something. The background for mine is white. When the background of them is white, and i enter the game on one of my characters nothing but objects on the ground like chest for examples will load. The ground will not load, and i can not walk around.
But here is the twist. I can rarely make it work if I shut down my computer, and when it boots back up attempt to open haven immediately after my computer has booted up then there is a small chance haven will open correctly and the background for my characters will show. It also seems to have more of chance of happening if I lag my computer out a ton while im trying to open it up. Any suggestions?
My java is very strange on my computer(it hates me).
I have a windows 7 64 bit computer.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem before? Could it be related to my run.bat file(I doubt it)
Any help is appreciated

You could have a bad Java installation, but you may or may not need to reinstall. You might also just have a bad download or cache of HnH. Try clearing out the Java cache (Control Panel, Java, General>Temporary Internet Files, click Settings..., then Delete Files). I also suggest getting a fresh copy of the Ender's client.

Before reinstalling, make sure you have the latest update. If you don't, try updating. This might work. Otherwise, go to Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs and uninstall Java. Reboot your computer, and then reinstall. This isn't a guaranteed fix, though.

It does sound similar, if not identical, to the problems I was having, and this helped me. However, it's an issue that pops up often enough, and it doesn't work for everyone. I understand that it has been around for a couple of years, and that loftar has looked into it but wasn't quite sure of how to fix it. (Something to do with the resource files not loading or caching properly.)

Just for the hell of it go to the enders file and delete all your belts, it works with fixing the character creation screen, might as well try it.

"fixed" temporarily at least. I deleted a ton of files that i thouhgt were pointless. Temporary files, maps, screen shots, cache files, etc. Then i shutdown my pc and opened haven and only haven when i booted up. I let it sit until it opened, logged in and didnt minimize the screen until it brought up the character screen. The characters had the background :D I combined like 30 different solutions to get this to work lol
