Crashes + Decay

This is not confirmed so it's more of a question to the devs. When the server crashes and has to be rebooted, what happens to the decay timer? As I understand it, there is a timer that ticks and causes decay at some interval. Does that timer reset when the server crashes? Thus if the decay timer ticks, and then the server crashes and gets rebooted, will it tick again right away?

I ask because we built some things last night and after the recent server crashes they are extremely damaged. It seems unlikely that it could have occurred normally.

I could be wrong though. Just a thought.

There is a ticker that randomly hits a tile about once an ingame(?) week. There is no per time timer or anything, you probably just got really unlucky with where the decay hit. Also, having a item on more than one tile causes it to be hit more.

it seemed to happen to more than one thing pretty quickly. Our cauldron was destroyed and an herb table was seriously damaged all over night. No scents or cracks in the walls. Meh, probably just unlucky.

It should be impossible that this happened due to the decay timer (or at least close to; if it really were it, you were really unlucky). You weren't breeding winds nearby, by any chance? :)

Haha, nope. Actually the two items were in different parts of the village. Probably a good 30+ tiles apart. I've been noticing other things decaying fairly quickly as well. We just had to replace a palisade segment that had decayed and I have a nagging feeling this thread is somehow related. It seems conspicuous that everyone's beds were breaking around the same time.
